Rat Terrier - Casper - Medium - Adult - Male - Dog
Casper is a 5 year old red heeler/ lemon colored rat terrier mix. He originally came from a gassing shelter in Gaston, NC (the mountains). He was saved 2 hours before he was to be suffocated in a gas box. He was pulled into a rat terrier rescue. However, he weighs 35 pounds because of his shepherd cross and too big to pass for your typical rat terrier. He also is very protective of his person with other animals. However, he likes cats for some odd reason. He will chase one in play if it runs though. He is very good with people and children. However, if he senses another dog as a threat he will ward him away from his person. Therefore, he is not a good match for a multi-dog family. He is very smart. He is housetrained, leash trained and knows the command to sit. He is also calm when inside and very affectionate. He loves to cuddle and stay very near to his person. He does not seem to have a preference between men and women. Whoever feeds and loves him soon wins his total devotion. Since he is 5 or over, he qualifies for a reduced adoption rate for a disabled vet or senior citizen. If you are interested, please submit an application at brantleyanimalrescuecoalition.com .
